When it comes to protecting the people who protect us, good enough is never good enough. At AFAC 2025, S&H unveiled a new generation of high-performance protective apparel that pushes the boundaries of comfort, safety, durability, and performance protection — proving once again why S&H remains Australia’s leader in protective clothing.
These garments weren’t just designed to pass the test. They were engineered to change the way first responders feel, move, and perform on the job.
Among the wide range of innovations on display, three garments in particular demonstrated how S&H is reshaping high-performance protective apparel for today’s frontline needs.
Road Crash Rescue Ensemble
Rescue operations demand strength, agility, and precision — often in confined spaces where every second counts. Our new Road Crash Rescue Over Shirt and Trouser were designed with that reality in mind.
Moisture-wicking fabrics keep wearers dry under pressure, while stretch panels in key zones provide freedom of movement without compromising protection. The inherently flame-resistant fabric isn’t just tough — it’s built to last, maintaining strength and structure even after countless washes.
Visibility is another game-changer. Alongside performance high-visibility trims, we’ve integrated phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) tape, ensuring rescuers remain visible long after the lights go out. Certified across Wildland, Stationwear, and High-Visibility Standards, this ensemble is setting a new benchmark for rescue gear.
Next Generation Stationwear / Duty Wear
Day-to-day protective uniforms shouldn’t feel like a compromise between comfort and safety. Our latest Stationwear and Duty Wear garments prove you can have both.
By combining inherent flame resistance with breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics, we’ve delivered apparel that performs in the toughest conditions while remaining light and comfortable enough for daily wear. The trousers feature ripstop construction for durability and integrated stretch for unrestricted movement.
Designed for protection against flame, heat, and electrical hazards, the range is also certifiable to Wildland or Stationwear standards, making it one of the most versatile stationwear solutions available.
The Blackout Shirt
Not every rural fireground task demands full wildland gear — but every task demands safety. The new Blackout Shirt is lightweight, inherently flame-resistant, and engineered for comfort during extended operations like controlled burns, mop-up, and rake-hoe work.
Built with high-performance, inherently flame-retardant fabrics, it combines breathability with natural moisture-wicking properties to keep crews comfortable even during long shifts. The shirt also offers optional high-visibility trims and glow-in-the-dark tape, providing an added layer of safety when conditions change unexpectedly.
Importantly, the Blackout Shirt is authorised for wear on the fireground, fully compliant with AS 4824:2021 Wildland Firefighting Standards — giving wearers peace of mind that they’re protected and compliant while carrying out critical tasks.
Innovation with Inclusion
Perhaps most importantly, every garment in our innovation range is available in female fit. Because true protection isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s about ensuring every professional has gear tailored to their needs.
